Regionally produced renewable transportation fuels are an essential part of achieving national energy independence. Aquatic based algae is considered to be the most productive of all photosynthetic life, and have tremendous potential to yield economically viable biofuels without displacing food crops. Algae systems combine a high lipid (oil) content and photosynthetic efficiency resulting in oil yields 50 to 500 times greater than traditional feedstocks. Star Peak Energy Center has unique advantages to supporting the production of Algae Biodiesel including sunlight, water, area, and waste heat.
